If there is one way to completely transform the inside of your Australian property, it is to add a much-needed lick of paint. This might be a job that you want to do yourself in order to be able to save yourself some money and that makes perfect sense. Painting is also incredibly therapeutic and so if your stress and anxiety levels have been going through the roof as of late then this is the perfect opportunity to calm yourself down.
There are a few things however that you need to put into place so that you are not getting paint all over your brand-new windows and doors, so one of the first tips is to make sure that you tape over the surfaces before you begin to paint at all. This is just one of the top tips when it comes to painting the interior of your property here in Australia and the following are some others that you might want to pay attention to.
- Put your paint in a larger bucket – It may be the case that you buy multiple tins of paint in the same colour and you would be surprised to know that even though you have chosen the colour blue, sometimes the colour can change just a little tiny bit from tin to tin. There is nothing worse than being in the middle of painting a room and then finding that there is a small noticeable difference between one side and the other when it comes to the specific colour. This is why you mix all of the paint into one bucket to avoid this happening in the first place.
- Be sure to tape up windows & doors – Many Australians make the mistake of not doing this at the very beginning and so they end up having to spend literally hours trying to clean off the paint that has gotten onto these surfaces. Take the time to apply the tape before you begin and don’t remove it until you are absolutely sure that all surfaces are dry.
- Start with the trim first – For some reason, many Australians go in the opposite direction and so they start with the walls, they paint the trims and then they paint the ceiling. This is the wrong way to go about things and if you watch any professional painter, you will find that they do it in the order of the trim first, the ceiling next and then finally the walls. Make sure that the surfaces are clean from the very beginning so that the paint can stick properly.
Other things to know about are investing in a quality roller so that you can get close to the edges without actually touching your windows and doors for example. There are many rollers out there that can allow you to do the painting in a fraction of the time that it would normally take. Make sure that you put covers on the floor and furniture.
